Phyllis moved to Raton in 1984 and is currently the Art teacher for Raton, K through 6th grade classes, and coach of the middle school volley ball team. Her first artistic inspiration came through her relationship with her Grandmother as a young child they used to draw birds and color together. A beautiful mural done by Phyllis and Melissa Goetsch Medina can be seen outside of the Icehouse Restaurant in Raton. Holding a Bachelors in Education, Phyllis enjoys freelance, self motivated and passionate drawing and above all working with the kids. Drawing and painting is relaxing and allows the best opportunity for Phyllis to make that connection with inner self and to help guide others to do the same.
